It all begins in the wild Nordic forests of Lapland, Northern Sweden.

Nordic Lapland has the world’s largest organic-certified forest area. Spanning 13 million hectares, it is bursting with Scandinavian flora. 99% is organic-certified, meaning that the forests remain in a natural state. Chemicals or pesticides are banned from this area, and it is basically untouched, worlds away from pollution.

Since the forests are located in the northern Nordic regions, the plant life here endures extreme weather conditions. They must generate powerful protections in order to survive the freezing temperatures and arctic summers that expose them to almost 24 hours of sunlight. As a result, these plants are packed with antioxidants and polyphenols such as flavonoids, and other valuable chemical compounds beneficial for human health, especially for the skin. Studies have shown that northern plants contain higher amounts of polyphenols and antioxidants compared to the same plant species growing in southern regions. 

NOOMI harvests these ingredients through wild collection.

That means the forests remain unharmed while gatherers responsibly collect the organic ingredients packed with skin nourishing nutrients. 

All of this is in accordance with the International Standard for Sustainable Wild Collection of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (ISSC-MAP) and follows the guidelines of Good Agricultural and Collection Practices (GACP) set by WHO.  In turn, this secures valuable income for rural households and supports traditional livelihoods. Local farmers and collectors are paid a fair price while human rights are fully respected at all stages.
