7 Tips on How to Sail Through Menopause with Ease

Menopause. It sounds like a big deal because it is a big deal. Going through it is like passing through a stormy sea. But even with its finality, you can still choose to avoid its sting and eventually sail smoothly through it. And yes - it is not by chance that some women grace through menopause. There is a secret to it!

Read on to discover NOOMI’s tips on how to sail through menopause with ease:

1. Do not just eat well; eat healthily!

Foods highly determine the intensity of your hot flashes at night. You can avoid the harshness of the hot flashes by limiting high-calorie and high-sugar meal intake and instead consuming fruits for dinner. Studies also show that including dark green leafy vegetables in your regular meal keeps nutrients and minerals in your body in check. Most importantly, fruits and vegetables prompt the body to absorb and retain nutrients.

2. Be in control, not take control.

There is a subtle difference between being in control and taking control during menopause. Being in control pertains to managing the symptoms and knowing the factors (high temperature, hormonal shifts, etc.) that cause them. On the other hand, taking control happens when you force your brain to respond differently to the effect without addressing the source. Remember that the symptoms of menopause are not just products of the mind but are also a combination of hormonal and physical rewiring.

3. Appreciate the advantages.

As they say, there is newfound freedom in menopause. But you won’t be able to experience this freedom unless you appreciate it. By using its advantages, such as the end of your menstrual cycle, enhanced perspectives, and fuller womanhood, you give yourself a break it so long needed: self-love. Try new things. Discover new sources of pleasure. Reconnect your mind and body to the universe by doing outdoor activities, yoga, sports, etc. Note: self-love is wellness; wellness is self-love.

4. Move that body.

Exercise promotes proper circulation in the body. Doing it regularly should soothe your body’s process of absorption and release. Studies prove that regular exercise conditions the body to respond positively to menopausal symptoms. In addition to its apparent benefits to the body, exercise also promotes mental wellness.

5. Get plenty of sleep.

Sleeping promotes the massive regeneration of cells. Getting plenty of sleep should help you compensate for the emotional and physical turmoil you are going through. Moreover, drinking plenty of water before sleep time maintains hydration in your body. Finally, sleeping ensures that your skin keeps its collagen production.

6. Boost your social engagements.

Mood and memory tend to get slippery at the height of your menopause. Hormones like dopamine and serotonin would frequently slide in and out, eliciting irregularity of emotions. Such an imbalance would naturally keep you from socializing. However, if you understand these events as natural symptoms, you would manage your feelings and eventually surround yourself with positive people, groups, clubs, etc. By doing so, you can finally stabilize your mood and memory. Just remember to choose your social environment well and walk out of the toxic ones when needed

7. Love your body more.

The menopausal period can be harsh for your body, particularly your vagina. And, it all makes sense. This period sees the lowest estrogen production ever in your life. As a result, your vagina hardens, dries up, loses the thickness of its lining, and eventually suppressing your desire to have sex. To counter this, you can opt to lubricate your vagina with an over-the-counter water-based moisturizer before, during, and after sex.
